Homemade ranch
Everyone knows I’m a sauce gal, and the top sauce in my book is ranch. As an Ohioan, Hidden Valley Ranch should be the gold standard, but I’ve grown to love this homemade version so much more over the years. It’s inspired by NYT’s Classic Ranch Dressing, but with some notable tweaks - like tripling the seasoning.
Homemade Ranch
1 cup buttermilk
3/4 cup full-fat, plain Greek yogurt
1/4 cup mayo
1 TBS onion powder
1-1/2 TSP dried chives
1 TSP garlic powder
1 TSP parsley
1 TSP dried dill
1 TSP kosher salt
1/4 TSP black pepper
1/4 TSP dried mustard (optional)
How to make it
Add all ingredients to a bowl or jar and stir until combined. Season to taste, adding more salt as needed.
If you’re using as a dressing, add more buttermilk or even a small amount of water to thin it out. If using as a dip, use less buttermilk so it’s thicker.
Note: Eat within five days of making.
